Archie Towo
Born and raised in the mountainous Morobe district of Papua New Guinea, Archie Towo is a self-taught artist. With a distinct perspective of the world around him and a desire to promote his culture and his identity through his artwork, Archie has been painting and doing screen printing for over 10 years.
In this tropical environment – where the vast majority of the inhabitants live largely traditional lives in agricultural societies – painting has been a creative outlet that Archie has used to express his awe and admiration for the rugged landscape that is Papua New Guinea.
He also gleans inspiration from his family, and his cultural heritage that has influenced much of his creative style.
Driven by a desire to support his family, and a determination to educate others within his community, Archie works strenuously to improve his artistic skills and abilities.
